Soncap Certification Project Introduction
The Soncap certificate is a statutory requirement for the clearance of controlled products at the Nigerian Customs.
The lack of Soncap certificate will result in the delay of the clearance of controlled products or the denial of entry into the Nigerian domestic market.
Regulated List (all products are regulated except the following products which are not regulated by SONCAP)
Products not subject to SONCAP regulation include:
The food and drug
Medical supplies (other than equipment and instruments)
Chemical raw materials
Military supplies and equipment Aviation-related products
Industrial instruments used in production
Used products (other than motor vehicles) bicycle, motorcycle, and motor vehicle components that are supplied to a legitimate manufacturer or assembly plant for assembly.
Nigeria Soncap certification process, need to carry out 2 steps.
1. Apply for Soncap PC certificate (for local banks in Nigeria to apply for Form M);
2. Apply for Soncap SC (one-time customs clearance) based on Soncap PC certificate.
PS: There are three modes of PC product certificate (unregistered product certificate (PC1), registered product certificate (PC2) and licensed product certificate (PC3)).
What information do I need for Soncap certification?
The first step is to apply for the Soncap PC product registration certificate, which requires the following information:
1) Application form;
2) Product photos;
3) Qualified test report issued by a laboratory with ISO 17025 qualification;
4) Factory ISO9001 system certification (if any);
The second step is to apply for Soncap SC certificate. The following information is required:
1) Application form;
2) Packing list;
3) Proforma invoice;
4) FORM M;
5) Bill of lading;
